Welcome to Year 6
Year six is a very exciting year at St Michael’s. The children experience many new things and take on additional responsibilities as the eldest in the school.
There are many learning challenges during the year and the children gain confidence, not only in their academic abilities, but also in their social and emotional skills. There are many curriculum areas for children in year six to cover but they usually rise to the challenges with much enthusiasm.
The children take part in a residential trip during year six when they are able to work together, take part in activities they may not have previously experienced and most of all have fun. Children and staff always report that they bring home memories for life when they return home from school camp.
At the end of year six are the Standard Assessment Tests which all children take throughout the country. This is a challenging time for all pupils, but they understand it is an opportunity to demonstrate what they can do and perform to the best of their abilities.
Finally, they are ready to move on to the next stage of their education and they transfer to secondary school. We are always so proud to see these young people move on with confidence, enthusiasm and determination.
