Goals and Vision for the School
This school aims to be a learning community in which we all:
? Achieve our full potential
? Are motivated to work independently and collaboratively
? Take initiative and responsibility
? Show respect and consideration for others and their environment

The vision was formed by representatives of the school community. They decided that the existing motto of Learn Care Enjoy should be kept as these were the key goals of what we are trying to achieve at St Michael's Church of England Primary School providing the best for the whole school community.

Our key goals follow on from our motto. They are:


1. To expect and achieve average and above average expected levels of attainment for each individual child

2. That each child feels cared for, valued and safe in school

3. That children enjoy their experience in school, providing them with a firm foundation for later life

From these three areas each can be further detailed to give targets and criteria by which we can measure our success.
Goals

1. Achieve average and above average expected levels of attainment for each individual child by
o Recording and assessing expected levels of attainment of each individual child year on year

o Agreeing and setting targets to progress learning with individual children and parents

o Allocating resources to assist children to make average and above average progress

o Develop understanding of other ways of life and providing opportunities for developing all skills to enhance global learning

o Providing high quality teaching by supporting staff in training and developing skills


o Expecting high standards of work from children in their presentation (where appropriate) and levels of understanding

o Providing a curriculum which challenges

o Developing learning and enquiry

o Governors having a responsibility to be informed of levels of achievement and quality of provision so they can support, allocate and manage resources

o Children have a voice in developing their own education and learn the role they have to play in the school community

o ICT skills in pupils and staff are continually improving and developing to ensure enhanced learning



2. Each child feels cared for, valued and safe in school by
o Providing training for staff to provide adequate and safe environment

o Sharing the ethos of the school in valuing all children with all new members of staff

o Giving children a forum to voice their thoughts where children fell listened to

o Providing moral and spiritual guidance to children whilst valuing their own ideas

o Giving all children the feeling of belonging and community identity by ensuring inclusion

o Challenging children to achieve in a positive and constructive way

o Agreeing shared rules of expected behaviour between children, staff and parents

o Allocating sufficient resources to ensure a safe environment is provided and maintained

o Appointing staff who share the community identity of the school

o Recognising and rewarding children?s achievements and attainment

o Governors having a responsibility to ensure that adequate levels of safety and care are provided in school

o Giving Governors the opportunity to talk to children

o Making children aware of their responsibilities in caring for others in their community and the world

o Giving children opportunities to care for others and their environment

o Giving children opportunities to eat healthily, have access to water and drink, and have regular exercise and outside activities

o Protecting children from all forms of abuse including bullying, racism and inappropriate internet content


3. Children enjoy their experience in school providing a foundation for later life

o Staff and governors to ensure that a varied and unique set of experiences are encountered by pupils whilst at school

o Staff and Governors allocate resources to develop experiences of the pupils

o Staff share and offer their own expertise to develop children?s experiences

o Staff are given opportunities to develop new and existing skills to provide enjoyable experiences for learning

o Children are provided with opportunities to enjoy the natural and spiritual world

o Parents share and enjoy the learning of their children and can develop their own skills in educating their children Back to top
