What will your child learn?

By the end of Reception
your child will have experienced the Foundation stage curriculum. You will notice an increase in their independence as they develop their own place in the school community alongside developing skills in reading, writing, counting. They will also have experienced different learning styles in the classroom as well as the outside environment. Back to top
By the end of Key Stage One
your child will now take on more responsibility for their learning and relationships with others in the school community. They will have further developed their literacy and numeracy skills as well as learning about the other areas of the National Curriculum (Design Technology, Art and Design, Music, Geography, History, Physical Education, Science, Information and Communication Technology, as well as Religious Education, Personal, Social and Health Education, Citizenship and Economic Awareness, Modern Foreign Languages!!!!). The school will support your child?s learning by setting targets derived from the teacher assessing their progress. Back to top
Homework
Your child will be given homework routinely in varying amounts depending on their age and ability. It is important it is completed, as it will help reinforce learning from school and allows children to develop independent skills of learning. Back to top
By the end of Key Stage Two
your child is assessed by National Standard Assessment Tests (SATs). Your child will have developed learning strategies and skills to enable them to achieve at their appropriate level. They will have been supported by their teachers in partnership with you.
We will support their social development by offering opportunities such as residential trips, discussion time in class, school council meetings, school plays and representing the school, working with younger children and so they will be ready to meet the challenges of their new secondary school.
